Exclusive Interview: Anna Lunoe - CelebMix

If you haven’t heard a catchy electronic tune from Anna Lunoe yet, you may be missing out on one of the greatest up and coming musicians of this year. Lunoe is an Australian female DJ and producer who has been taking over the charts and streaming platforms with original songs and collaborations with some of the most popular names in the music industry, including Flume. When she’s not making music, Lunoe is hosting Dance Chart on Apple Music’s Beats 1 each week, Fridays at 6 a.m.

In an exclusive interview with Anna Lunoe, she opened up to CelebMix about her music, the impact her songs have on listeners and where she dreams of performing next.

What inspired you to first get started with music and then ultimately to DJ? 

I was 17, straight out of school with no idea what I wanted to do in life. I just followed my passions. I was always really passionate about music and I just followed my nose to the gigs, met like-minded people, started volunteering at a radio station and then DJing from there. it was a slow progression of discovery and my greatest passion.

What are the rewards of being a DJ? 

Listening to music all day, continually searching for new and inspiring sounds (which can also be frustrating when you cant find them), and performing in front of people who understand you. Plus, seeing great places and meeting good people who love what you love.

You have opened for some incredible artists including Diplo! How has it been to see your career skyrocket and to perform at such popular events? 

Awesome!

What can you tell me about your 2018 single ‘Blaze of Glory?’

It’s one of my favourite songs I’ve made. Purely made from passion and human spirit.

What would you say is your favorite song you have created thus far and why? 

They all have a different place in my heart and were integral to my growth. A song I just made called ‘303′ is one I’m really excited to release.

Your song ‘I Met You’ has millions of streams. How has it been to see how that song has resonated with fans and listeners? 

I love it! It captures an innocence I had for music-making at that time and I think people can hear that.

When you’re not in the studio or making music, what do you like to do during your free time? 

Hang out with my family and friends, [and to] go get lost in some nature, dance, eat, cook.

Are there any artists or DJs that you dream of working with in the future?

Always open to collaborations!

If you could tour with any artist or perform at any festival next year, what would your ultimate choice be? 

Shambala [the festival], Ibiza, [and] more shows on beautiful islands [such as] Jamaica and India.

What are your goals for 2019? 

Great question, I’m asking my self the same question right now…. when I work it out you will know!
