Hailing from Kosciusko, Mississippi, Ben’s passion for meteorology led him to pursue a Geosciences degree with a Broadcast Meteorology specialization at Mississippi State University.

His meteorological journey commenced as a meteorologist based in Jackson, providing weather updates for various communities, eventually joining KPLC in April 2011.

Notably, his exceptional coverage of Hurricane Laura was recognized with a Special Achievement Award from the National Weather Service.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ben’s advocacy encompassed supporting Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis survivors, conditions he battled since his early 20s.

Moreover, his dedication extended to volunteering at the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s Camp Oasis.

Ben was also a beloved radio show host on KBYS-FM, a regular participant in the Ad and Press Club’s annual Gridiron Show, and a respected member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Charles.
